The Ciaron Maher-trained Jameka tracks towards a shot at another Oaks win on April 9 when she jumps from the inside alley in a capacity Vinery Stud Stakes 2016 field at Rosehill Gardens this weekend.

The first of two elite level features on The BMW Day card, this year’s $500,000 Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) is scheduled as Rosehill Race 6 at 3:50pm (AEDT).

A full line-up of 14 confirmed starters plus three emergencies are in the mix for the fillies’ set weights clash, the early favourite of which is the Melbourne visitor Jameka.

Winner of the Group 1 Crown Oaks (2500m) at Flemington last Melbourne Cup Carnival, the three-year-old daughter of Myboycharlie tracks towards the Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Royal Randwick this autumn.

She is third-up this weekend first however on a short seven day turnaround in the Vinery Stud Stakes running over the same track and distance as she die only last weekend when third behind Australian Derby-bound Tarzino in the Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m).

Jameka was two lengths off the winner that run and Maher keeps her to the 2000m against her own gender this weekend.

Drawn one on her outside in barrier two is the David Hayes & Tom Dabernig-trained Risque who Damian Lane rides.

A group 1 winner over a mile back in New Zealand, the Darci Brahma filly has had two runs in Australia winning the Group 3 Kevin Hayes Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield first-up before a third in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) on March 5.

She was defeated just over a length by Palentino in her last start and makes her Sydney and 2000m debut in the Vinery Stud Stakes looking to be the first winner to back up from an Australia Guineas run in over 30 years.

Lindsay Park’s Hayes & Dabernig are also represented by Stay With Me drawn wide in barrier 15, possibly into 13 if the first two emergencies fail to get a run.

Like her new stablemate Stay With Me is a Group 1 winner over 1600m having won the Thousand Guineas last October defeating Jameka home by one and three quarter lengths.

Her lead-up into the rematch with that filly was a fourth behind Le Romain in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) at the start of the month, a race that last produced a Vinery Stud Stakes winner in 2012 when Mosheen completed the double.

Wide barriers haven’t been an issue in recent history with five of the past eight Vinery Stud Stakes champions jumping from either barrier 10 or 11.

Hopefuls drawn around this place in the field this Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival include the John Thompson-trained Crown Oaks runner-up Honesta for jockey Craig Williams who rode Miss Finland to victory in 2007, the lightly-raced Anthony Cummings-trained Believe and last start Kembla Grange Group 3 winner Single Gaze who was runner-up to Mahuta in the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas for Canberra’s Nick Olive.

Other notable hopes include the visiting New Zealand Group 1 winner and NZ Derby performer Valley Girl and the first emergency Happy Hannah sweating on a start to join Self Esteem in the field for Peter & Paul Snowden.
